Family and Friends Birth Support Class

This is Winnipeg's only class for sisters, mothers, and friends who are going to support a woman in labour and birth. This class will help you develop a support team so the birth mother can have her mother, sister, and/or best friend present in labor and birth. Dad and doulas are welcome. All who will offfer active support in labor and birth should attend with birthing mother. Limit of 4 to a group including birth mother.

Highlights of What You Will Learn:

Discuss possible roles in labour support.
Develop strategies to deal with mental and emotional challenges of labour.
Practice comfort measures.
Personalize a birth plan.
Create affirming birth art together.
Other topics include: basic overview of pregnancy and birth, rituals and affirmations in birth, and personalizing the birth environment.

A 12 hr. childbirth preparation series is recommended in addition to this course for first time moms as many topics (breastfeeding, infant care) are not discussed. 5 hrs.

Fees:

$75 per group

Bring pencil crayons, felt pens. Wear comfortable clothing.

Private classes in your home can be arranged!

$100 for a private class.
