Inspired Childbirth Preparation

Created by our own experienced team of Prenatal Instructors and based on the most recent evidence-based studies, these classes are a fun and interesting way for parents to fully prepare for the birth of their baby.

Moms and their partners will discover safe choices during labour and birth, including: pain relief options, effective communication with caregivers and thoughtful decision-making. Birth partners will learn how to offer gentle support throughout labour, and a variety of comfort measures are practiced together.

Breastfeeding, baby care basics, and postpartum adjustments are also discussed, so parents are ready to welcome their newborn with love!

Highlights of What You Will Learn

how to recognize the signs and stages of labour.
the processes of labour and birth.
creating a comfortable birth space.
how to trust and follow your body’s cues.
comfort measures for pain management such as relaxation, breath awareness, massage, emotional support and much more.
the partner’s role.
medication options for pain control.
common medical procedures.
birth plans.
unexpected outcomes (such as Cæsarean sections).
a range of experiences and emotions of birth.
essential postpartum info, such as becoming parents, welcoming your baby, getting off to a good start with infant feeding, postpartum family adjustments, and processing your birth experience.

The fee for our Inspired Birthing class is $100.

Private Classes

MACFE instructors are also available for private instruction for those clients who are unable or do not wish to participate in a class. We offer a variety of private classes, including a full series that can be scheduled at the client's convenience and in the comfort of their own home. There is also a refresher class that is designed for people who have previously taken childbirth preparation classes. This session provides an overall review, as well as discussing recent changes in labour and delivery options, sibling preparation and postpartum adjustments for mother and family. A private refresher class designed for those clients planning a vaginal birth after cesarean (VBAC) is also available upon request.

All class participants are invited to use our lending library. We can also provide a reading list of books that are available at city libraries and local book stores.

All of our Inspired classes are located at Mediation Services 1200 Portage Ave, Located between Erin and Wall in Winnipeg. All other classes are located at 589 St.Annes Rd in Winnipeg.
