NEW Beginning 2008! MACFE is pleased to offer these additional classes...

NEW!
First Year With Baby

Your baby has arrived..now what?!?! This three-week class picks up where the prenatal classes leave off. We will explore what to expect in baby's first year-eating, sleeping, and development. We will discuss the sleeping patterns of babies and how parents can get as much sleep as possible, breastfeeding and bottle-feeding, when and how to introduce solid food, weaning, baby development and the expected "milestones" of the first year. As well, we'll discuss parents' needs to ensure that the whole family can enjoy the first year together! This class is open to pregnant women and their partners and couples with young babies.

The fee for a group session is $60.

NEW!
The Second Time Around

This course is a refresher for parents who have already given birth. Has it been a while since your last pregnancy? Are you attempting a VBAC (vaginal birth after caeserean? Maybe you would like to review & practice pain-coping techniques. This course will help parents gain confidence as they prepare to give birth fo the second time.

The fee for a group session is $75.

"What About Me?" Sibling Preparation Classes

The Sibling Class is for 3 to 8 year olds. (older/younger children may be accomodated or facilitated in a private class ... please contact the
registrar for information)

A parent/guardian must accompany the child.

When a family is expecting a new baby, it can be hard for an older brother or sister to know what to do and how to feel. This special class for older siblings will help prepare young children for the changes that will occur when the new baby arrives. Sibling classes provide children the opportunity to explore their feelings concerning the arrival of a new baby. This sibling class will help minimize the amount of jealousy that they feel toward the new family member.

Many children are excited and look forward to the arrival of their new brother or sister. Having the opportunity to learn more about newborns, and how they can assist mom after the birth makes them feel more a part of the pregnancy, and also reassures them in their role in the family.

In addition, learning how they can help out with the baby is an empowering experience for many children, giving them a sense of pride and satisfaction in the knowledge that they are going to be a BIG brother or sister!

Parents will learn important information concerning "sibling rivalry" and what to expect from the older sibling upon the baby's arrival.

Class fee: $35

Class length: approx. 1 ˝ hours
