Our volunteers are non-judgmental and respectful of others, keep all client information confidential, participate in MACFE fundraising efforts and adhere to MACFE's mandate of providing mother-centered care. We strive to ensure that our volunteers find their work with us fulfilling and helpful in their personal growth. We believe and follow the philosophy of "freedom of choice through knowledge of alternatives."

Whether you want to volunteer your services as a Doula or to become involved in the birthing community in another way, MACFE has opportunities for you. We are always looking for compassionate, committed people who are willing to help us empower families as they prepare for birth and beyond.

MACFE is governed by a volunteer Board of Directors that is elected by members at our Annual General Meeting held in April. This board meets a minimum of four additional times a year and is comprised of a chairperson, past chairperson, secretary, treasurer and five additional directors. All MACFE members are welcome at any or all of the board meetings, however only directors may vote at these meetings.

Buying a MACFE membership helps support our valuable programs. We encourage you to become an involved member by joining the Board of Directors or helping with the programs. We count on our members to keep us growing. Members have access to our lending library and voting privileges at the Annual General Meeting. A one-year membership is $30 and includes a year long subscription to "The Birth Vine", MACFE's Journal of Shared Birth Wisdom. For a membership application, click here.
